and maintenance of exposed glass and several types of plastics. Nanovations Nanosolar™
offers a unique maintenance solution using the latest developments in Nanotechnology
surface modifications. Based on Nano scale photo catalytic materials, Nanosolar™ provides
a protection for weather exposed glass and plastic surfaces such as Solar Panels,
collectors and mirrors and glass facades.
When exposed to sunlight, the photo catalytic effect creates a hydrophilic surface. Exposed
to rain or when rinsed with water, the water will sheet, because the hydrophilic effect
spreads water evenly over the surface.
This significantly reduces the problem of leaving dirt marks behind when droplets dry on
the surface. The combination of hydrophilic surface and water results in a self cleaning
effect where maintenance cycles can be significant reduced.
Keeping the surface clean enhances light transmission. Build up of dirt, dust or bird
droppings can dramatically reduce the performance of solar panels and prevent them from
performing at their optimum. Tests have shown that the output can be up to 15% higher on
clean panels than on those covered in dirt or dust. Easy to remove dirt also reduces the
risk of creating wear and tear marks especially on plastic like polycarbonate.
